ACCOUNTING CLERK
Job Description
We are currently looking for Accounting Clerk to join our team. Reporting directly to director, this is an exciting role for an individual who enjoys workings as a team player
The main responsibilities are:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
- Prepare and manage general ledgers, journals, and trial balances.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit accounts, and other financial accounts.
- Monitor accounts receivable and payable.
- Assist with preparing VAT returns and audit support documentation.
- Prepare financial summaries and management accounts for internal and client use.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, including HMRC guidelines.
- Collect and verify employee work hours, holiday entitlements, and statutory leaves.
- Process payroll runs (weekly/monthly) via designated payroll software.
- Apply accurate deductions for tax, NIC, and pensions.
- Submit RTI reports to HMRC in a timely manner.
- Manage payslips, payroll summaries, and pension compliance.
- Handle payroll queries and liaise with HMRC when required.
- Monitor work in progress and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and quality of work.
- Advise on the handling of all correspondence and inquiries related to clients.
- Chase up invoices due from clients according to agreed-upon payment plans.
- Communicate existing and new service developments to current and prospective customers.
- Provide support to junior staff through mentoring, coaching and appraising performance on an ongoing basis.
